Roscoe had picked up his brand new Victory Vision and we were taking the scenic route back to the Phoenix area and south to Tucson.
Yarnell Heading to Wickenburg
On the 6th Annual Ride for Ryan, I was leading Smash and Timmer on a nice twistie section of the Devils Highway, just north of Morenci Mine.
My 2006 Goldwing is equipped with 2 video cameras. I have 1 mounted on the instrument cluster area shooting through the windshield. The second camera is mounted on the right side of the trunk and facing behind me.. as you can see from the Smash and Timmer video above. These are both Panasonic SDR-10 (SDHC card) camcorders. A 16GB SDHC card gets 3.5 hours of high quality video, and an 8GB card gets 3.5 hours of Standard Quality Video. Both cameras have 12volt adapters connected so during the ride, I don’t have to worry about batteries. Both videos above were shot in Standard Quality mode. My old camera setup used Panasonic DV tape camcorders which worked okay, but optical image stabilization doesn’t work very well on a motorcycle!
There are more videos on the following pages with brief text comments on the video, where it was shot and what the event was. I video almost every ride (not daily commuting) for several reasons. First, I like to ride and want a record of the good parts. Second, if something happens on the ride, I have a video record to show just what happened. All to often this would involve someone on 4 wheels taking out a biker. If I can provide video that documents the stupidity of the cager, then all the better. There are too many of our brothers and sisters that have been taken from us and the cagers get a slap on the wrist because they say “I DIDN’T SEE THEM!”.
